Students will create artwork using paper and cardboard, and learn about how artists use these materials in contemporary art.
During the first half of the course the focus will be on 2D work in recycled and paper-related materials. The students will experiment with collage, color mixing and sketching to then create a map of their world in paint, cardboard and collage.
The second half of the course will have students explore cardboard as a 3D material. Students will make relief sculptures and small, free standing, balancing sculptures. The sculptures will vary from abstract to pattern/ornamental, to representative.
To add color to their work students will decoupage and explore mixing and applying paint.
