“This work explores the geometry of the face and head, using that shape as a base for repeating patterns. Nature is full of examples in which a unit, be it a scale, a marking or a petal, repeats to cover a larger form, creating a pattern over the object. When programming knit structures on the computer, I often conceptualize a single knit stitch as one pixel within an image. In three dimensions the knit stitches take on the quality of an older video game with poor graphics. With these sculptures I aim to create disorienting figures which imitate both the natural world and the digital one; two spheres often pitted against one another. And yet, these figures are merely the spawn of a love for both the natural world of rocks, plants and animals and the technological world of machines and computers.” - Felix Beaudry
