The natural landscape of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains inspired English-born artist Thomas Cole to adopt the region around Athens as his home. As settlement encroached into the idyllic landscape, Cole's artistic vision became a protest against its exploitation. Inspired by the primal power of nature, contemporary artists infuse their observations of the Hudson Valley with the same urgency in this group exhibition.
