About the Athens Cultural Center
Our mission is to encourage an understanding and appreciation of the arts, to uplift creative voices within our community and beyond with a welcoming and accessible atmosphere for neighbors and visitors.
We offer a rich variety of free and paid classes for art enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds. As budgetary constraints continue to threaten school art programs in our schools and institutions, our FREE classes for children serve an increasingly vital role. We host several art exhibitions throughout the year, as well as community events, performances, installations and collaborations. Housed in a former storefront built in the 1870s, we are steps away from the Hudson River and its historic culture. Every December, we take over the street for an authentic Victorian Stroll.
We are located at Athens Cultural Center, 24 Second Street in the heart of The Village of Athens, right on the Hudson River.
Many classes and events will take place at the pavilion directly east of the building at The Athens Riverfront Park
Athens, NY is a quintessential Hudson Valley town, known for it’s river access and historic architecture.

Our mission would not be possible without the generous support of our community partners. We offer our gratitude to our members, sponsors, and volunteers for their outstanding support throughout the year.
It is with gratitude and humility that we acknowledge that we are learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mohican/Mahican and Lenape peoples, who are the indigenous people of this land. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
We pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
