Worlds Collage |
 |
“When Worlds Collage” is an exhibition
of four Hudson Valley artists who have exhibited extensively both here
and abroad. The show is jointly curated by artist Claudia McNulty and
Randall Evans of the Athens Cultural Center board. In selecting the
artists: Yura Adams, Stevan Jennis, Barry Gerson, and D. Jack Solomon,
the curators have identified strains in each individual’s work which
binds them together in ways that create both mutual affirmation and
confrontation in their methods of work, their intentions, and their
various constructions.
While all of these artists use elements of collage and assemblage in
their work, by no means are all straightforward collagists as such. The
curators want to explore the connections that join these artists and
the individual approaches to their art that make each distinct, and
expect that viewing their work together may provoke reflection
about these interrelationships.
Dates: August 4th through September 30th
Opening reception: Saturday, August 18th, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Exhibition hours: Saturday and Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.
An opening
reception on August 18th from 6-8 pm will be followed by a performance
by Pamela Pentony and her Quartet at Athens’ Riverfront Park from
8-10pm.

The Greene County Camera Club, the most
active and prestigious photographer’s association in the region,
presents photographic works by its members. The spacious Cultural
Center gallery, with its large windows and indirect natural light, is a
great space to view photography. This sampling of work by the
Club’s distinguished members provides an excellent retrospective of
photographic styles in current vogue.

inaugural exhibition of the 2007 season. We start by celebrating

display their newest and freshest works. The exhibition is an
unusual mix of paintings, works on paper, photographs and
sculpture. Always a surprise as professional artists and
professional amateurs show just what they can do.
