EXHIBITION SCHEDULE FOR 2005


SPRING FLING
An exhibition open to all local artists showcasing new and unusual works.
Dates: April 16th through May 1st
Opening reception: Saturday, April 16th, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.



ATHENS, THEN AND NOW
A special exhibition celebrating the bicentennial of Athens, New York, showing vintage photographs and postcards of the village hung in 19th century frames displayed next to photographs of the save view taken by contemporary photographers.
See how little has changed in this picturesque village during the last one hundred years. Local Athens photographers Nora Adelman and Keith Rodan capture the enduring beauty of the village.

Dates: May 28th through July 10th
Opening reception: Saturday, May 28th, 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Special opening hours:  the exhibition will be open in conjunction with the Athens Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, June 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.  The exhibition will also be open during the Athens Festival, Saturday July 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT: CONTEMPORARY HUDSON VALLEY LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Three different Hudson River painters show just how different landscape painting can be in the 21st century.  James Cramer is a landscape painter who works en plein air in the same technique as 19th century painters. Marianne Van Lent works in lush colors and a style that bridges representational and abstract art.  Basha Maryanska is a contemporary landscapist whose route to the HudsonValley was via Gdansk, Poland and the Sorbonne in Paris.
Dates: August 6th through September 4th
Opening reception: Saturday, August 6th, 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.




ART CAN BE SCARY:  THE HALLOWEEN SHOW


Partake in an Athens Cultural Center tradition and be part of the “artrageous” Halloween party that opens this show.  Be part of the experience!
